- Where do we meet?
For SEGWAY PT and e-bike tours:
We start from our downtown staging office at 176 YWCA Way, off South Main Street, downtown Winston-Salem, NC at the Gateway. Exact meeting details are provided immediately upon purchase of tickets.
For PADDLEBOARD Adventures:
Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided immediately upon purchase of tickets. We offer lessons (coaching) opportunities at 3 Triad Lakes: Salem, Belews & Oak Hollow. Or, we can travel to your lake! During the winter, you will discover that we haven’t hung up our paddles; you can find us, periodically, indoors at a large, local pool! Know which location(s) work best for you, then how to get there (see directions on the ticket).
- Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Advance purchase is highly recommended, as space is limited. Tours can sell out so we suggest purchasing your tickets early to guarantee your desired tour date and time. We’ve partnered with FareHarbor so you can buy your tickets either through our website or by phone 24 hours a day (with Visa, MasterCard or American Express) by calling 336.722.7777.
- Do I need to sign a waiver?
Yep! All adventure-seekers must review and sign a liability waiver before participating. Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them. (Keep in mind, Segway PT gliders must be 14 years or older, Ninebots 10 to 14, e-bike riders 10+ if tall enough, and paddleboarders 10+ if good swimmers).
- What happens if it should rain?
Tours and lessons will always run regardless of weather, aside from extreme conditions. Don’t forget your suntan lotion if it is sunny, or your gloves if it is chilly. Please dress according to the forecast. As a general guideline, no cooler for paddleboarding than 55 degrees and sunny, and no cooler than 40 degrees for Segway PT and e-bike tours. No Segway PT tours typically over 90 degrees. Adventure-seekers ahoy!
- Will my tour guide accept gratuities?
Why, YES! Gratuities aren’t included in the ticket price but are accepted and certainly appreciated by your tour guide (15% is pretty standard for a job well done). And especially appreciated if he/she indeed provides you a remarkable experience! For larger private groups, there shall be an 18% service charge added for instructors/guides.
- Is there public parking available nearby?
ABSOLUTELY, ample free/convenient parking is always provided from Triad ECO Adventures at the meeting location. Specific location/parking details will be provided upon purchase of your tickets.
- Are dogs/pets allowed on tours?
We love dogs, cats, and goldfish but we’re not able to accommodate pets on any of our tours. Surely Fido will forgive.
- Does the tour start and end at the same place?
YES, we begin and end conveniently at the same location.
- Is there anywhere to buy food or drinks along the way? Can I bring my own?
While no food or drinks are included in the ticket price, you’re encouraged to bring your own snacks and drinks with you. Keep in mind that there’s limited room to store large items. There will be bottles of water for sale at our departure point, for a buck.
- If I go on this tour, is there any incentive for me to consider any of your other tour offerings, too?
YES, absolutely…we LOVE repeat adventurers!! We offer a frequent-glider program that will give you discounts off future tours once you’ve completed several tours with us. Frequent-gliders will also qualify for product discounts! Please ask about our frequent-glider program when checking in for your tour.
- Do you offer gift certificates?
YES! Gift certificates are available for purchase. Just click on “Contact Us” above to get the ball rolling. Triad ECO Adventures makes for a mighty unique, memorable and fun gift.
Gift certificates also make great employee incentives and thank you gifts.
- Do you offer private tours?
YES, private tours are certainly available. To inquire further, just click on “Contact Us” above to let us know what you might have in mind. For larger private groups, there shall be an 18% service charge added for instructors/guides.
- Do you offer rentals?
Yes, we do! Please see our rental page for SUPs, and contact us regarding special circumstance rentals of our e-bikes and Segways. If you’re interested in private tours, purchase or leasing, just let us know!
- If I really enjoy the tour....can I purchase a Segway PT, e-bike or paddleboard?
YES….we’re the only authorized Segway dealership in the Triad who would love to help train you as a proud Segway PT owner. You can find all sorts of private uses for Segway PTs here. And for paddleboards here, as well as e-bikes.
- Do you give refunds?
If nasty weather shows up for your tour, or you need to take care of other issues in place of your scheduled tour, we would be happy to reschedule you for another day if advance notice is received, as well as provide optional individual/group certificates valid for a full year!
As custom throughout the tour industry, NO refunds are given after booking. Please be certain of your commitment with us, just as we totally commit to you. We are dedicated to our guests, so we are glad to pre-pay reservation and credit card fees so those are not passed on to you.
- Other corporate considerations?
In the case of corporate functions, such as team building events, we understand that getting the same group of individuals together can be difficult. In that case, we can offer to reschedule up to a year in advance. If rescheduling or gift certificates won’t work, then up to a 50% refund may be considered.
- Bathroom breaks?
Please use the bathroom before you arrive. Although sometimes necessary, bathroom breaks at our on-site restroom during your instruction slow things down and mean less Segway time for everyone. At some lakes, there may not be a public bathroom. On a Segway tour, our guide may be able to find an interim rest-stop may be located if requested.
- What should I bring?
Please make sure to bring a bottle of water (they can be stashed in a pouch on the Segway) and sunscreen for both Segway tours and especially paddleboarding. If you forget water, we do sell it here for only $1.
